Digital Photography

In term two, the Digikids have become confident with using the camera and developing their skills using the Keynote application to create a slide show. For the remainder of the term and the beginning of term three, we will be looking at developing our skills further using digital photography. We will choose one of the school values and take photos around the school of how this particular school value is showcased. We will then collate, edit, adjust and crop the photos. Once this has been done, the photos will be imported into a shape collage. To help generate and then sort our ideas, we are using Inspiration which is a mind mapping application. Another programme, Wordle, allows us to rearrange our mind maps words too. Have a look at what we have been up too!

Autumn

We have been very busy taking pictures of Autumn. Some of us took pictures of the Christchurch earthquake. Autumn is a time where trees loose their leaves and things die. They grow back later in the year in Spring. This can be like the earthquake we had in September and February, because our city has crumpled and has to be rebuilt.

Keynote was our application that we used and we all enjoyed learning different techniques. We learnt how to...
  • Upload pictures from our camera and input them into iphoto
  • Use different features of iphoto eg cropping, editing, deleting
  • Use the internet to find pictures
  • Select a keynote presentation
  • Transfer photos into keynote and rearrange or make bigger
  • Use different transitions for slides and objects
  • Add music
  • Add text and change the colour, text and size
Have a look at our slideshows!

The Digikids have been selected from children within the year 4 to 6 year groups. They have to meet school criteria to be apart of the programme.

Every Monday there will be a lunchtime session to enhance ICT skills in challenging and motivating learning experiences. This will provide them with the necessary skills needed for the 21st century. On a Friday the children have the privilege of taking the school laptops home to enable them to finish work and implement new skills being developed. They are assigned a laptop and this is returned to the school on a Monday morning.
